imin was a runner-up in the Business category at the 3rd annual Open Data Institute Annual Awards last night. The ODI Awards celebrates a generation of network thinkers who are changing the world with open data, and recognises those organisations and individuals that see and make connections without boundaries to solve problems.
We were tremendously proud to be recognised by the ODI, alongside fellow runners-up, Open Data Nation, and category winners, cMapIT, especially given that imin has only been a company that uses open data since late 2014. Excitingly, Nick Evans, a co-founder of imin, was also nominated for an ODI Award and was eventual runner-up in the Individual Champion category. We are tremendously proud of Nick and all the work he has done in advocating open data in our sector.
Our vision has always been to help communities lead happier, healthier lives. We strongly believe that open data will play a huge part in achieving this vision. Last night’s nomination was not just for imin, but for the fantastic organisations, large and small, that we’ve been privileged to work with. We still have lots to achieve and imin is committed to helping make it easier for people to be physically active.
The ODI Awards followed another successful ODI Summit, which brought together a wide variety of organisations, from startups and charities, to banks and governments, in order to ensure that they and their sectors harness the power of open data. imin’s co-founder, Nishal Desai, gave a presentation alongside other startups that have received funding from the European Commission as part of its Open Data Incubator for Europe (ODINE) Programme. This followed the exciting announcement of the new partnership between Sport England and the ODI.
The ODI’s Summit and Awards was a great way to welcome the penultimate month of a year in which imin has worked closely with organisations across the county, including London, Essex, Hampshire, Gloucestershire and Leeds to help get more people physically active. We look forward to 2017!
